Well, 2016 has been an interesting year full of lots more interesting projects, all of which have been multilingual and developing businesses in international markets off and online.
We are really looking forward to more exciting business challenges in 2o17!
Wishing all our friends, colleagues and clients past, present and future a lucrative and enjoyable 2017!
Founding Owner & MD of Agave Blue Marketing
At Agave Blue Marketing and Agave Blue Languages, we are getting inordinately excited about the prospect of receiving our snazzy new business cards very soon.
It may only seem a small thing but, to us, it’s only the beginning as we have plenty of exciting plans in the offing.
With big thanks to Kirsty Grimes and her team at We Love Our Locals .
2015 is not quite over yet! (or at least, not where we are in the UK right now).
It’s been quite a full on year, once again and another varied, busy and interesting one for Agave Blue Marketing.
Three particular highlights of the year for us have been:
- Working with Canyon Safaris in Uganda on their marketing strategies for UK and USA to promote ethical, sustainable and environmentally responsible tourism into the country for a business owned, established and managed by Ugandan nationals.
- Continuing to act as the outsourced marketing department for the agri-tourism family-run Westmoreland Berry Farm in Virginia, USA, handling everything from strategic and tactical planning through to public relations, events planning, website content management and all aspects of social media.
- Our second year in a marketing project management and development role for what is now the 5 year old Bristol Cocktail Week handling, amongst many other things, the creation of the new brand identity, website, all public relations and media contact, along with the occasional brilliant fun local radio interview on BBC Radio Bristol with Laura Rawlings and on One Love Breakfast with Pat Hart and Sangeeta Dewan.
Best wishes to all our friends and clients past, present and future and here’s to another successful year for us all. We’ll be very happy with a 2016 that is full of varied and interesting projects just like these!
Well, what a week was Bristol Cocktail Week 2015!
Bristol Cocktail Week – Day One:
The week started on the Monday with the traditional competition for the Bristol Cocktail Cup to decide who should be Bristol’s Best Bartender 2015. Round one was held in Goldbrick House on Park Street featuring 12 of Bristol’s finest bartenders presenting their cocktail interpretations of “original sin” featuring Mamont Vodka.
The second (and, by far, the most entertaining round) was held a few minutes walk up the hill at Manos on Clifton Triangle. This was a sudden death round of cocktail entertainment and wit where our highly creative and often most theatrical cocktail-meisters were paired up to compete in who could serve their rather demanding customers best with only one winner per pairing, nothing getting past our guest judges from Crazy Pedro’s, Manchester.
Round three was held at the recent arrival on the Bristol cocktail scene, Her Majesty’s Secret Service (HMSS) at Clifton Down. Remaining contenders were individually quizzed in quick fire rounds of general cocktail and Bristol knowledge with questions such as: where does Aviation gin come from? and where’s a good place to go for Sunday brunch in Bristol? as well as several more challenging cocktail and industry-related questions.
The final and fourth round was held across the road on Whiteladies Road at The Flipside Cocktail Club where the remaining four contenders were rapidly whittled down to two: Will Garnett from Red Light and Luke Robinson from HMSS. Each were challenged to create and perform their own interpretations of Tom Cruise’s “The Last Barman Poet” from the 1988 film “Cocktail” which they did with unforgettable and hilarious results! They also had to correctly identify an American, Irish, Welsh and a Japanese whisky.
After an entertaining and fast moving set of rounds, the winner was finally and noisily declared. Congratulations to Will Garnett of Red Light! You are now Bristol Cocktail Week’s Bartender of the Year 2015 and holder of the Bristol Cocktail Cup!
Bristol Cocktail Week got off to a great start. At this stage, we were 1 day down and only 6 more still to go!

Monday, 19th October is when this year’s Bristol Cocktail Week’s fun starts! BCW really kicks off in style with the Bristol Bartender Competition when Bristol’s talented and passionate bartenders compete in a series of knock-out rounds to decide who will be Bristol’s Best Bartender 2015 and holder of the Bristol Cocktail Cup.
Last year, the well-deserved winner was Emilio de Salvo, formerly of Red Light, Unity Street, Bristol and now of Little Red Door, Paris. We’ve heard a rumour he’s even come back to Bristol especially to see who is going to steal his crown!
This year, there are four rounds, starting at midday at Goldbrick House on Park Street.
This even is not normally open to the public.
However, for the first time in Bristol Cocktail Week’s history, a limited number of tickets have been made available for the public to attend the nail-biting Bristol Cocktail Cup final which, this year, will be held at Flipside Cocktail Club on Whiteladies Road, Bristol. Tickets and wristbands may be purchased here
If you love the bar trade in Bristol and have always wanted to see Bristol’s finest bartenders in action in a comp, come along this evening. The atmosphere will be electric!
